Looking for summer fun that doesn’t cost a lot?  Here are five way to have fun int Ionia this summer without breaking the bank,

1.  Celebrate 4th of July as a family at the Ionia Free Fair Grounds.  Admission is free and fireworks kick off at dusk.

2.  The Ionia Kids Club is a youth service and volunteer club made up of kids of all ages!  Kids meet every Tuesday at the ENRICH Building on Main St. and do service projects.  Get your kids involved by visiting www.kidsclub.ioniahost.com.

3.  Music on the Green takes place every Tuesday in July and features music on the lawn of First United Methodist Church.  Concerts are free and feature everything from the high school bands to swing night!  Call 616-527-1420 for details.

Looking for some inexpensive fun along the Lakeshore?  Here are six ways to save on family fun in Muskegon without breaking the bank.

1.  The Muskegon County Fairgrounds has a variety of reasonably priced events including a Renaissance Fair, Youth Fair and Bluegrass Festival.  Many of the events are free for children and have a small entry fee for adults.  Visit www.muskegoncountyfairgrounds.com for more information!

2.  Check out Parties in the Park every Friday from 5-9:30pm in Hackley Park.   There is family friendly music and it’s totally free!  Visit www.partiesinthepark.com  for more details.

3.  Muskegon’s WWII ship, the LST-393, features Friday Night Movies On Deck!  The old-time movies are only $2, and pop and popcorn is only $1 each.  Movies start at dark and all proceeds benefit the ship’s restoration efforts.

Freepeats is a frugal parenting website founded by an Atlanta woman who was looking for a way to pass on gently-used baby and maternity items to other nearby parents.  Since the launch in 2005 there are over 21,000 members offering swings, cribs, strollers, toys, clothing and more.
