We have a Tigers Top Prospect pitching for us this year. His name is Jacob Turner. I cannot wait until he pitches at home. It will be great! The promotions have already started too. This Saturday is Autism Awareness Day with ASK (Autism Support of Kent County) and the guys will be wearing special jerseys. Some of them are being auctioned off too.

You should also go to our Facebook Page. As a special thank-you to our friends, you can print a coupon that gets you a special ticket discount for Sunday or Monday’s games.

Can’t wait to see what this season has in store! I am hoping to win at least one Crash Dash this year, but my record sits at 0-3. Oh well!

The warmer weather and all of this talk about Spring can only mean one thing: BASEBALL IS ALMOST HERE!

A lot of people ask me what my favorite thing about the season is, but I love so much about the summer that it is hard for me to answer. I decided to make a Top 5 list of my favorite things about the baseball season. They are not in a certain order because it is too hard to choose my favorite. After reading my list, you should tell me yours!

Here is the list:

The promotions. Crash Dash is fun even though Franky always finds a way to distract me, and the dizzy bat races are so funny because the people never run straight. Plus, on the really hot days, sometimes the crew surprises me by spraying the hose!

The fans. The fans are the best. I love how loud they cheer and how excited they are.

The game. Sometimes the Whitecaps lose and sometimes they win. Either way, it is fun to hear the crack of the bat. It is such a cool sound.

The team. The players always make me feel part of the team. I know I am their number one fan, and it is fun to make special handshakes and high-five them when they do a good job.

The food. Our ballpark does a good job at feeding me. We have a new food item being revealed at the end of March, and I cannot wait to find out what it is. I am sure I will love it, and I cannot wait for my first hot dog of the season!

Did you know March is National Reading month? I love March because I get to help with our Reading Club program and go to classrooms around town. Today I went to Coit Creative Arts and read to some kids. Actually, my friend read while I tried to act. Like I said before, today is Dr. Seuss’ birthday, so we read my favorite story by him “And to Think That I Saw it on Mulberry Street.”

After the story the kids took an oath to keep reading. It was so cool. I learn so much when I read, and it is so much fun to see other people excited about reading. Happy March!

Yup, you read the title right. I chickened out. After all my training for the Polar Plunge, I just could not do it. My Whitecaps friends all went before me. You should have seen the looks on their faces as they were climbing out of the water. Yikes! The crazy part is they all agreed it was not that bad and they would do it again.

Even though I did not plunge, I still helped our team raise $2,165 for Special Olympics! They all did an awesome job. We decided to do a beach theme, which made me think of how warm the baseball players must be in Florida. The Detroit Tigers Spring Training site is in Lakeland, and the final report date is February 23. Soon it will be opening day, and I am so excited for it!

Right now our food and beverage people are working hard in the kitchen. There are ten items fans can choose from to be served at the ballpark this summer. Voting ends February 23, and they will announce the winner in March. I would tell you my favorite, but they all look tasty.

One thing is for sure, I cannot wait for my first hot dog of the season. They always taste better when the Whitecaps are playing!

It has been a long, long winter and I’m tired of shoveling snow. The good news is players report to Spring Training next week, and I am getting pretty pumped up to see that the baseball season will be under way soon. Once the guys are settled in Lakeland, FL (the Detroit Tigers Spring Training site), I will update you with how they are doing.

Things at the ballpark are kind of slow right now. However, earlier today I smelled something cooking in the kitchen. It smelled awesome! I tried to get in, but the door was locked, so the only thing I could do was to get down and put my nose under the door to get a good wiff. I think they were testing the Chili Mac ‘n Cheese Taco. I hope we serve it this summer. I know I could eat more than my BFF Franky, the Swimmin’ Pig. He and I are at every Whitecaps game cheering on the team.

Speaking of swimming, Saturday I am joining several of my friends over at Reeds Lake for the Special Olympics Polar Plunge. We are all jumping in the lake to raise money for Special Olympics. It sounds crazy, but I am looking forward to it. Besides, I can count it as my bath for the week. I have been doing some training to get ready, so wish me luck!
