The things we plan for
Planning is something that most people either enjoy doing or they don’t. Whether it’s my next vacation, a friend’s wedding shower or something as simple as my weekly trip to the grocery store, I enjoy making a “to do” list of action items and getting organized. Call me strange, but I recall making lists already at a young age. I remember my parents talking to me about making a list of pros and cons when planning a big decision and to this day I still do it (and my husband teases me for it).
As part of Maranda’s team at WOOD TV, my job requires a lot of planning. Where You Live works up to two months out at time, so you can imagine the juggling when it comes to content, shoots and our website. Then there are Park Parties, you know the huge parties in the summer that draw crowds of 40,000+? So, between me and Maranda there at numerous lists, calendars, scheduling books and tools that help keep us on track.
Our team is in the midst of planning an exciting 2010 for Maranda fans and Where You Live viewers. We’re working on some exciting shows with great giveaways and Maranda and I are close to kicking off Park Parties 2010. Next month we’ll reveal our six dates and locations and begin the four months of preparation it takes to bring these large scale parties to families around West Michigan.
In order to help us plan for a bigger and better 2010, we’d love some feedback from you. Tell us what you’d like to see us cover on Where You Live, or if you have some fun ideas for Park Parties, let us know! Either post it under my blog or you can visit the “comment” section of our website. And don’t forget to tune in to Where You Live this weekend as we look at some of the big things that West Michigan families are planning for!

I’ve been a part of the WOOD TV8 team since 2005. As Special Projects Producer, I work side by side with Maranda making things happen behind the scenes. I coordinate Maranda’s Park Parties each summer and produce a variety of station broadcasts and events through out the year. I also serve as the producer of Maranda’s weekly half-hour show, Where You Live. I love the variety of my job and getting to be a part of the impact Maranda is making on kids in our community!
Outside of work, I've been married for seven years to my husband John and we have two beautiful daughters, Sophia and Stella. When I'm not busy trying to keep up with the kids, I spend "me time" reading fashion or celebrity magazines, sneaking in some good reality television, walking around Reeds Lake with girlfriends and exploring new restaurants with my hubby.
Inspirations for my blog come from my daily life as a busy working mom -- trying to juggle a full time job and be a full time mom to a spitfire five year old and a new baby.
