Maranda,

We always watch you and all the great ideas you share to get involved and help in the community so I thought I would share a fun idea that our family has taken on to really make a difference.

Trick or Treat for Canned Goods:

4th Annual Trick or Treat for Canned Goods
Pick ups will be Halloween Day between 3:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.
If you are unavailable but would still like to donate, you can leave your bag outside for pickup. You can also contact us for alternate pickup options.

About our Program:
Peyton Westmaas is a 3rd Grader in Byron Center Schools. For the last 3 years Peyton has taken the Halloween Holiday and forgone the typical Trick or Treating for Candy and in place has collected 1000’s of lbs of food for people in the Greater Grand Rapids. Dressed up in her costume of choice, she hits approximately 150 houses in her neighborhood the night of Halloween and the results have been overwhelming.

IMPORTANT NEWS:
•	In our 1st Annual Trick or Treat 2006, Peyton raised over 800 lbs of
donated food.
• In 2007, even with bad weather we were able to exceed our goal of over 900 lbs. We continue to be amazed with what can happen when we work together.
•	In 2008 The economy has continued to impact so many families, but we were still welcomed with open arms and again blew our 1000 lb goal out of the water.

2009 We are extending our Mission and hoping you can help us hit 1300 lbs of food to donate.

All proceeds in years past and this year have been shared between Mel Trotter Ministries/Gods Kitchen and Kids Food Basket.

Hope the idea inspires you and your viewers.. Stay linked to me on twitter.
