Five Ways to Save in Grand Rapids
Looking for some low-cost family fun in Grand Rapids. Here are five ways to save without breaking the bank.
1. Visit Blues on the Mall every Wednesday this summer at Rosa Parks Circle in downtown Grand Rapids. This free outdoors blues concert has family friendly music and is a great way to spend a summer evening outdoors.
2. GRAM on the Green is a free summer series at the Grand Rapids Art Museum that starts in mid June. All plaza activities are free and access to the galleries is only $5 for non-members. www.gramonline.org.
3. Every Thursday the Grand Rapids Children’s Museum offers Family Night. From 5-8pm admission is only $1.50 per person and children under two are free. www.grcm.org.
4. Take the family out to the ballpark with a Whitecaps game! Lawn seats are $5 or use your Fifth Third Bank debit card and get four lawn seats, four hot dogs and four Pepsi’s for only $28. www.whitecapsbaseball.com.
5. Kids love the zoo, so why not save money by purchasing a family membership. A membership to the John Ball Zoo is $60 and includes unlimited visits for the entire family all summer long. www.johnballzoosociety.org.

I’ve been a part of the WOOD TV8 team since 2005. As Special Projects Producer, I work side by side with Maranda making things happen behind the scenes. I coordinate Maranda’s Park Parties each summer and produce a variety of station broadcasts and events through out the year. I also serve as the producer of Maranda’s weekly half-hour show, Where You Live. I love the variety of my job and getting to be a part of the impact Maranda is making on kids in our community!
Outside of work, I've been married for seven years to my husband John and we have two beautiful daughters, Sophia and Stella. When I'm not busy trying to keep up with the kids, I spend "me time" reading fashion or celebrity magazines, sneaking in some good reality television, walking around Reeds Lake with girlfriends and exploring new restaurants with my hubby.
Inspirations for my blog come from my daily life as a busy working mom -- trying to juggle a full time job and be a full time mom to a spitfire five year old and a new baby.
