Celebrate 20 Years of Miracles!

WOTV 4 and Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital are teaming up for the 20th Annual Celebration for Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital. The Celebration will be broadcast live on WOTV 4 on Sunday, May 31 from 8am to 6pm.

WOTV 4 and WOOD TV 8 personalities Maranda, Eva Aguirre Cooper and Storm Team 8 meteorologists Bill Steffen and Terri DeBoer will host the Celebration. They will be joined by radio partners Tommy and Brook of Star 105.7.

Throughout the ten-hour broadcast, viewers will hear stories of local children whose lives have been touched by Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital and see the miracles that they help make happen. Viewers will also have the chance to call in and pledge their support. All of the proceeds raised stay in West Michigan to support programs and services of Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital.

Children’s Miracle Network is a national program that raises both funds and awareness for the special health care needs of children. Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital is the only Children’s Miracle Network hospital in West Michigan.

Maranda,
I'm very dissappointed to see that you are promoting the Ringling circus. Haven't you seen or read about the abuse that the animals that 'perform' in this circus suffer?

Elephants and tigers are WILD animals and do NOT belong confined to cages where they are mistreated by their trainers. PETA has shocking videos that show this abuse.

I hope you will take the animals side and stop hyping the circus. After all, every little bit helps.

Me? I plan on being downtown every night picketing this terrible injustice being done to our animals. And people wonder why every now and then an elephant goes mad!!!!

In 2006 my son Jordan Basinger was on the telethon @ Devos and after almost 3 1/2 years he is finally done and he is 13 y/o now and he gets his port removed on this Monday. Talk about an excited little boy. He can be normal again and he gets to go to Camp Catch a Rainbow next month with out his Port and play like a kid should be able to. The American Cancer Society holds the camp every year and this will be Jordan's 4th year going and this time it will be with out his port and without chemo. We are so excited and Devos Childrens Hospital, Dr. Mitchell and all the Hem/Onc staff and Colleen and P.O.R.T. are all a part of Jordan's success in beating his Leukemia. Thankyou Maranda for all you do to show what our families go through. I would like to throw Jordan the biggest childhood cancer survivor party in July! Got any Ideas! It has to be the biggest party of his life as he is lucky to have his as when he went in to Devos the outlook was not great as he was 98% Leukemia. I want him to remember this defeat he has taken part in and reward him for all the fight he put up to save his life and to remember his good buddy Gavin Williams he befriended during long stays @ Devos and Gavin did not make it and Jordan still misses him. I’ve been a part of the WOOD TV8 team since 2005. As Special Projects Producer, I work side by side with Maranda making things happen behind the scenes. I coordinate Maranda’s Park Parties each summer and produce a variety of station broadcasts and events through out the year. I also serve as the producer of Maranda’s weekly half-hour show, Where You Live. I love the variety of my job and getting to be a part of the impact Maranda is making on kids in our community! Outside of work, I've been married for seven years to my husband John and we have two beautiful daughters, Sophia and Stella. When I'm not busy trying to keep up with the kids, I spend "me time" reading fashion or celebrity magazines, sneaking in some good reality television, walking around Reeds Lake with girlfriends and exploring new restaurants with my hubby. Inspirations for my blog come from my daily life as a busy working mom -- trying to juggle a full time job and be a full time mom to a spitfire five year old and a new baby.
