BIG SHOW THIS WEEKEND!

Be sure to watch “Where You Live” this weekend.   It’s a big show!  We’ll explore simple ways to talk with your kids about the facts of life.  We’ll also have some great guests that share tips to get conversations started.  It’s an important topic and I hope you and your family find it insightful and informational.   Let me know what you think!

Good Job!

You do a good job on the program.  I also enjoy your website and I am always looking for fun stuff to do with my kids.  I’ll continue to use your website as a resource.

Thanks,
Jill Farnsworth

Tips for Feeding Picky Eaters

We’d love to hear from you!  Tell us how you get your picky eaters to try new things.  Here are a few tips to remember when looking to introduce new foods to your little ones.

· Never force or restrict food choices

· Remember it is the parent or caregiver who controls what and where and when food is provided.  But, it is up to the child to decide how much to eat and whether or not to eat.

· Parents should continue to offer the child a variety of foods at mealtimes.  For some children, it takes being offered a food up to 15 times before they are willing to try it.

Mothers and More

This week’s show featured great savings tips from Mothers and More, a local support and advocacy group for moms right here in West Michigan.  The local chapter currently has over 50 members and has lots of activities to choose from in a given month.  The chapter meets twice a month in the evenings and covers topics ranging from cost-conscience shopping to finances to self-defense.  The chapter also has other activities including community outreach activities, books clubs, movie nights and couples nights out.

Employment Tips for Teens

In this week’s show we talked to two West Michigan employers that rely heavily on teens during the summer season.  Here are their five best tips for getting that summer job.

1.  Take it seriously and be professional.  Even if it is your first job, it is important and the employer wants to you see if that way as well.

2.  Bring the correct paperwork.  When you’re filling out an application you’ll need your drivers license or a picture ID, social security number and in some cases a work permit.  Make sure you check with your school guidance counselor to see if you’ll need to complete a work permit.
